Russia’s Sanctioned Arctic LNG Plant Boosts Output to New Record

Russia’s sanction Arctic LNG 2 project continued to load the struggles to find export facilities buyers, while the gas output has increased its exit to record levels this month.
According to a person with subject information, the facility, led by Novatek PJSC, had about 15 million cubic meters per day in most of August. This is probably converted to a higher LNG – gas output for a liquid form for ease of transport.
The facility, which is located on the North Pole circle, is very important for Russia’s plans to double by 2030, and it touches new gas markets after a sharp decrease in pipeline exports to large buyers in Europe.
These ambitions are stuck with international sanctions after the Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, while the five tankers seem to have been loading LNG cargoes since the month of the tankers, most of them are now heading to Asia.
It remains unclear where the ships will be emptied and whether the loads are found to find foreign buyers, but argues that Russia can find ways around sanctions.
The Arctic LNG 2 project increased its daily gas production more than 25 million cubic meters per day on August 25 and 26, and the person talked about anonymity because information was not public.
The last walking may indicate plans to continue installing LNG. In December 2023, when it was released, the facility pumps an average of 13.7 million cubic meters of gas per day.
According to the monitoring data compiled by Bloomberg, the La Perouse LNG ship is currently moving towards the facility. If it was installed, the sixth exports from Arctic LNG 2 would be this year, the other five loads did not have a clear sign that found the buyer.
Christophe de Margerie tanker is installed near Russia’s Karyak Floating Storage Unit, which is also approved by the US in the Far East. While Voskhod and Zalya ships sail in the Bering Sea, Buran and Iris ships go east on the North Sea.
Arctic LNG 2 and Novatek, the largest shareholder of the project, did not immediately respond to Bloomberg’s requests for comments.
