Angler reels in first documented orange shark off Costa Rica

28 August (UPI) – A man fishing in the waters on the Costa Rica shores hugged an unusual capture, the first documented orange shark.

In August 2024, Garvin Watson hugged his line near Tudugero National Park and hugged a 6 -meter 6 -inch nurse shark.

“[It was] Incredible, “Watson USA told Today. “We couldn’t believe what was ahead of us, an orange shark that looks like an alien.”

Watson, the owner of Parisina Domus dei Hotel, shared photos of his capture Business Facebook Page.

Researchers, shark bright orange coloring, an animal’s skin, scales or fur yellow or gold pigmentation caused by a situation called xanthism, he said.

Scientists Marioxis Macías-CuYARE, Gilberto Rafael Borges Guzmán and Daniel Araz-Naranjo wrote in a report published this month Biodiversity in Magazine Magazine Watson represents Watson’s nurse shark “the first scientifically documented Xantism and the first record from the Caribbean Sea”.

Researchers, shark’s white eyes show that there is a kind of albinism that contains a complete pigment deficiency, he said.
