New online form replaces multiple entry requirements for tourists
In terms of proximity, Bali should be one of the easiest places for Aussies to travel, perhaps beaten only by Fiji and New Zealand. However, the list of digital documents to enter the last few years has seen North Korea a task rather than our most popular tourist place.
As an old resident and Bali, as a visitor frequently, I have been an expert on how to convey my advice to the family and friends (reading: archive of digital forms) to regulate how to regulate and visit the country.
As of September 1, this challenging task was consolidated, the Indonesian government All Indonesia online declaration cardIt is a digital system that replaces each form and should be filled 72 hours before your arrival. For now, only Jakarta’s Soekarno-Khatta International and Surabaya’s Juanda International, together with Bali’s main airport Ngurah Rai International and Surabaya International, are valid for travelers. However, as of October 1, it will be valid for all international entry points, including airports and ferry terminals.
Before my last visit, the process included four separate steps: consult for an e-visa (it allows you to use e-cases and often skip the long immigration tail); Fill in the online customs notification form that has been introduced since the Monkeypox epidemic in 2024 as well as online Satusehat Health Pass; And Pay Bali Tourism Tax.
One of the common false steps that I often see in Bali arrival is travelers who are unaware that you need to fill in the customs declaration form online and get a QR code before arriving. This has created a passenger bottleneck that tries to make a wild connection to Wi-Fi to fill the form on the exit, to fill the form on his phones. This will no longer be a problem.
Will this new system make it easier for Australians traveling to Bali? Essentially yes. The problem was not as much as the lack of consistent and accessible information around the entry requirements. It will make it easier and less time consuming especially for families. And in the most obvious way, it will allow a faster exit at the destination and eliminate the chance of not completing one of the steps.
Nevertheless, you should apply for a visa and you can get a visa at arrival (VOA), but my advice is to apply for e-visa before traveling, so that you can enter the e-doors (children over the age of six can use them). On my last visit, I was in demand in just 15 minutes, and the e-doors devoted a significant amount of time in immigration.
Despite the last debate and collapse of local Warungs and businesses, which lasted for decades in the surfing paradise of Bingin and Balangan, the Australians are still flocked to Bali at record numbers. According to the latest figures of the Australian Statistical Office, 832,000 Australian residents went to Indonesia with an increase of 8 percent in the same period last year in the first six months of this year. The non -popular decision to destroy the beach huts on the cliff edge of the cliff in Binggin, where the Balinese government said that there was an illegal built there, is part of a wider pressure on the perceived environmental and cultural violations of the island.
The government follows a series of steps taken to manage excessive tourism, cleaning badly, tourists and a bright new image of Bali as a sustainable, high quality arrival point. In 2023, the island released an official DOS and NOTS list. It came after a series of events that disrespect the sanctuary and often act badly. Despite an increasing intentionality for rebellious tourist behavior, it still seems to be a problem, including some of the biggest Instagram accounts on the island, @canggu.info Detailing near daily events.
In January, Bali seems to take the vision of Balinese officials seriously with the recent pressures on the previous raids in the local Warungs and the island on the island, including the closure of a luxury villa complex of Russia in Ubud in the Ubud.
