Starmer must not meet Israeli president during UK visit, say Labour MPs | Foreign policy

Israel president will go to London next week for a controversial journey from the deputies of the Labor Party who calls for a delegation visiting Keir Starmer.
Isaac Herzog’s arrival is full of complications for ministers, the UK government is on the verge of recognizing the Palestinian province at the UN General Assembly.
Herzog was expected in the UK on Wednesday and Thursday – Foreign Minister David Lammy was in the UK for the first time in the UK during an unaware visit with Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa’ar.
A foreign leader of such a seniority would normally expect to spend time with senior government ministers, but any meeting between Herzog and Starmer would be largely controversial in the labor force in Israel’s ongoing military action in Gaza.
No 10 did not confirm any meeting between Herzog and the Prime Minister, and there are last precedent to prevent it, Starmer recently avoided a meeting with Bangladesh’s chief adviser Muhammed Yunus.
Downing Street sources suggested that any appointment would not be approved with any minister until next week, but the workers’ deputies urged the government to avoid meeting with Herzog and said that any meeting would send an uncertain message about the position of British in the Gaza War.
International Development Committee Workers’ Deputy and President of the Sarah champion said that he hoped that the ministers will meet the Israeli leader in X: “Britain recognized the ‘real genocide risk’ by Israel, so what message is we sending this meeting unless this meeting is not about peace?”
John McDonnell, the former Shadow Chancellor, said that Herzog should not be allowed to enter the country.
“I was horrified in the decision of a government representative who systematically kills Palestinian children to visit our country,” he said.
“The Prime Minister proves that the Palestinian people are definitely toned to the desperate situation of the Palestinian people and the overwhelming feelings of the British people that Herzog represents the savagery.”
Worker MP Clive Lewis said that Starmer should be very careful. “Dialogue is something, but there are times when the meeting action itself has become a political expression,” he said.
“Obviously Herzog is not Netanyahu, but in many issues. However, the President’s own words have helped to legitimize the language that the Palestinians warned the collective punishment of the Palestinians about the genocide convention of international lawyers.”
However, Emily Thornberry, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee, a strong critic of Israel, said with Herzog, who contradicts the internal issues with Israel’s hard prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Guardian, “Question should be asked – How do you see Israel in 10 years? What is the future for the Palestinians in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza?
“But the only solution is through politics through discussion.
Liberal Democrats Spokesman Calum Miller, Starmer said, “President Herzog said that he should take this chance clearly.
Downing Street said that Netanyahu had previously been arrested if the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him for war crimes in Gaza.
After the bulletin promotion
From a different political party to Netanyahu, Herzog has a more ceremonial role and had previously clashed with Netanyahu on democratic and judicial changes, but he widely supported the military campaign in Gaza.
The President of the Israeli drew attention to a statement that all Palestinians in Gaza claim to be “definitely responsible for the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
“All [Palestinian] The nation outside… responsible. It is not true that this discourse is not aware of civilians. ”
This statement was given additional weight when the International Court of Justice was included in the order of 26 January 2024, the right to protect the Palestinians from the genocide is “at risk, and that Israel did not undertake any action prohibited by the genocide convention and that the Gaza should protect the population from genocide.
Herzog claimed that his expression was wrongly represented by ICJ when he quoted selectively.
Starmer finally met Herzog more than a year ago as a prime minister, he met in Paris shortly before he was elected as prime minister, he praised the historical friendship between Israel and the United Kingdom ve and reiterated the demand for the return of hostages and “Israel’s support for self -defense”.
However, Starmer and Lammy have adopted a more critical position on Israel’s actions that killed more than 65,000 people in Gaza, according to the region’s Ministry of Health.
Two harsh Israeli cabinets were imposed by the United Kingdom, and Starmer announced his plans to recognize Palestinian province this month alongside France.
However, there is a little bit of effort to stop Britain’s Palestinians’ suffering and other places.
Last week, Liberal Democratic leader Ed Davey said that Donald Trump plans to boycott a state dinner to host a state dinner by King Charles during his visit to England – to protest the US lack of pressure on Israel.
