The alarming number of motorists caught drink-driving every day

New figures, approximately 100 drivers in the last three years in the United Kingdom throughout the UK beverage driving was caught.

Iam Roadsmart, a philanthropist who obtained the data, stressed the need for “a change in mentality” between the drivers.

A total of 108,000 drivers received a 99 beverage driver per day for their licenses between 2022 and 2024.

These statistics were obtained from the Driver and Vehicle Undergraduate Agency (DVLA) with the request of freedom of information.

Data shows that drivers aged 25-39 are the most frequently guilty and 48,000 are caught. This was followed by young drivers (15,000) aged 40-65 age group (40,000) and 17-24 years of age.

In the same period, he was convicted of 3,000 drivers over 65 years of age.

The figures were taken from the Driver and the Undergraduate Agency in response to the request for freedom of information.

For someone who required to drive the job, IAM Roadsmart estimated that the potential cost of beverage driving was up to £ 80,000, based on factors such as loss earnings, legal wages, higher insurance premiums and fine.

Drivers convicted of drinking driving in the United Kingdom, if they complete a rehabilitation course, they can offer less prohibition to criminals, but they lose their licenses for at least 12 months.

They are also sentenced to a fine and a possible imprisonment.

The latest Ministry of Transport (DFT) shows that approximately 260 people were killed in accidents containing at least one drive on the legal alcohol limit in 2023 on the roads of England.

Approximately 1,600 people were seriously injured.

Last month, ministers reportedly intended to cut the beverage driving limit in the UK and Wales as part of a road security strategy in this autumn.

Transportation Secretary Heidi Alexander may reduce the limit to 22 micrograms from 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml.

This would be compatible with the rest of Europe, which had no border with the British and Wales, which had cut the beverage driving limit in 2014.

Iam Roadsmart Policies and Standards Director Nicholas Lyes said: “Drink driving is a dangerous reckless action that risks other people’s lives.

In the collision of a beverage driver in 2023, 1.860 people should be killed or seriously injured-the equivalent of five people a day.

“But for some, the results can only surprise them when they notice the wider cost.

Iz We hope that by calculating the potential cost to the individual, at least considering the effect of legal crushers on themselves and thinking twice before going behind the steering wheel after a beverage;

“What we need is a change in the mentality. To reduce the limit and increase the implementation, will help to send the message that it is best not to have any of the ways.”

A DFT spokesman said: uz We want all road users to travel safely, and there are already strict penalties for those caught in a beverage driving.

“We are determined to increase road safety and well -established thought! Our campaign is designed to reduce the number of killed and injured on our ways, especially to target young men.

“Road safety measures have not been reviewed for more than a decade, and over time we will determine the next steps for our road safety strategy.”
