Woke theatre courts outrage after slapping trigger warning on adaptation of Sherlock Holmes novel as it ‘contains crime’

A theater warned trigger to more than 20 of its future shows, including a performance with Sherlock Holmes.
Cheltenham warned the audience of the Everyman Theater in Gloucestershire that Sherlock Holmes: Moriarty Hunt contained scenes about crime.
He added that production contains ‘war and crime debates, possible death and murder’.
And on the only performance that will be slapped with the same awake warnings.
In the 2025/26 season, a total of 22 games were slapped with a warning such as Shawshank Redemption and Friends! Musical parody and even three separate opera.
Trigger warnings, defender of Freedom of speech and Toray Akran Toby Young’s response was met with anger.
He said to the Sun: ‘If this theater maintains a production of Fındıkkıran, will he have to put a warning that says’ may contain hazelnuts ”?
Everyman claimed that the warnings have already existed and that the audience would ‘make conscious decisions’ about what they will watch.

A spokesman said that trigger warnings will be ignored for many, but they are ‘vital’ for some and ‘aim to make the theater accessible to everyone’.
And for the first time, they did not slap trigger warnings.
Last year, some jokes in Aladdin Pantomims last year may disturb people and viewers in the past Christmas, and that Panto could be high.
Instead, he presented a ‘comfortable’ panto for those likely to be uncomfortable.
The content warning on the theater’s website said: ‘Panto is very fun, but sometimes it can be a little high and a little cheeky.
‘If you bring anyone under 5 years of age or someone with a tense or more sensitive tendency, please remember this.’
Panto was between 29 November – January 12th.
An Everman Theater spokesman at that time told Needtoknow: ‘Our priority is to ensure that all viewers have a pleasant and unforgettable experience.

Especially in the festival season. It is now a standard application on many theater websites, including content warnings when possible in the event descriptions.
‘Although it is fun and family -friendly, it acts as a useful reminder to the ticket holders that can be overwhelmed for small children or more sensitive audience members.
‘By providing this information in advance, we strengthen our guests to make their own decisions about whether their performances are suitable for everyone in their parties, so that they can all enjoy Christmas.
‘In addition to our main pantomime, we offer specially adapted alternative programming for younger viewers or anyone who can find full pantomime experience too much.
‘This year, we offer elves and shoemakers at the Irving Studio Theater designed for three to seven years old.’
‘On Thursday, January 9, at 10:30 and 16:30, we offer comfortable pantomim performances to be adapted to create a more comfortable experience for those who can benefit from a comfortable atmosphere.’
In the previous year, the same theater was drawn to the vegan storm of its productions.
A few spectators complained that the lyrics about vegans would lead to bullying, and then the theater drew a song from Anne Goose.
The song apparently means ‘g in vegan gassy, while A means either anemic or annoying’.
