Boko Haram militants kill 60 in attack in Nigeria’s northeast

The attack on Darul Jamal in the Bama Local Government Zone took place late on Friday, and killed at least 60 people, a resident of the village of Mohammed Babagana.
Borno State Gov Babagana Zulum, who visited the attacked community on Saturday evening, confirmed that he had died in more than 60 attacks on journalists.
“We are sympathetic to people and we begged them not to leave their homes because we made arrangements to increase security and to provide food and other life -saving items.” He said.
Bama’s local government president Mode Gujja said that more than a dozen houses were burned and more than 100 people had to flee.
Taiwo Adebayo, a researcher in Boko Haram at the Institute of Security Research, spoke to Darual Jamal residents and said that the murders of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lida’awati Wal-Jihad were carried out by a faction of Boko Haram. Boko Haram, the jihads raised in Nigeria’s house, took weapons in 2009 to fight Western education and impose the radical version of Islamic law. According to the United Nations, the conflict poured into the northern neighbors of Nigeria, including Niger, and caused the death of about 35,000 civilians and more than 2 million people. Boko Haram has become two groups after the death of the group’s leader Abubakar Shekau.
A Fraction is supported by the Islamic State Group and the Islamic State is known as West African province or Iswap. It has become a bad fame to target military positions.
The other fraction, Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad or Jas, increasingly resorted to attacking more civilians and perceived collaborators and developed in robbery and kidnapping for ransom.
Adebayo told AP, “Jas, when he attacked and killed many people in Bama last night, they often suspect the victims of espionage for the opponent Iswap or the army.” He said.
The Bama local government zone was the target of several Boko Haram attacks ten years ago and forced to escape from many inhabitants. Following the military operations in the region in recent years, the authorities re -settled people in various communities, which were the village of Darul Jamal in July.
Darul Jamal resident Kaana Ali said that he decided to leave the society well after confirming the deaths of close family friends in the attack on Friday. “However, the governor is still begging for us to stay behind because more protection will be provided to secure our community.” (
