Thai court rules that ex-PM must serve one year in jail

Thailand’s upper court decided that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra should be sentenced to one year in prison, and received a blow to influential political dynasties.

In a hospital, he decided that he had served a part of his previous prison sentence illegally and therefore should serve jail.

The high -profile case depends on a previous corruption conviction.

Thaksin and his family have been dominated by Thailand politics since it was first elected in 2001. Both his sister and his daughter were elected as the leaders of Thailand.

His daughter Paetongarn, the Constitutional Court’s Cambodia’s Hun Sen.

Paetongarn, who accompanied his 76 -year -old father on Tuesday, said that after the decision, journalists were “anxious” for his father, but that he and their families were “in good souls”.

He also promised to take the family’s Pheu Thai party forward in his work as an opposition party.
