A judge ruled that John Cowen was not suitable to beg on the Preston Crown Court

A countdown champion using a knife was thrown into a rival player and stabbed him in a fan club tournament.

Preston Crown Court jury members, 31 -year -old John Cowen’in Thomas Carey’ye before reaching a table to attack a knife at the Wainwright Social Club in Blackpool.

Prosecutor Rosalind Scott Bell said that on September 14, 2024, the old-creator was at the Focal CountDown Group event that they will play against the Channel 4 Quiz Show fans.

Judge Guy Mathieson told Cowen that he managed inappropriate to the trial and to identify the facts about what happened to the jury members. They found that the attack committed and had a winged article in a public place.

‘He caught the defendant’s wrist’

CCCTV images caught Cambridge Mathematics Graduated Cowen and entered the venue shortly after 11.30 BST in court.

He was in the club’s function room, including Mr. Carey.

Mrs. Scott Bell said: “The defendant had a knife in the left hand.

“He sees Mr. Carey and then goes into a run and goes directly for him.

“The defendant moved directly to Mr. Carey and flocked to the table.

“Mr. Carey returned to the seat behind him, and you can remove him while trying to kick the defendant.

“Mr. Carey then took the defendant’s wrist to stop the attack.

“He was stabbed until then.”

‘Not mentally good’

The court heard that Cowen was removed from Mr. Carey by others in the room and was held on the ground before the police were called.

The victim was treated in the hospital for a knife wound for the left chard.

Cowen Cowen was searched when he was arrested, and found that there was another kitchen knife in his pocket.

Ms. Scott Bell said Mr. Carey is a member of Countdown Fan Club since 2011 and knows Cowen from other events.

Cowen from Morecambe in Lancashire was not in court because he was told to be “seriously mental comfortable” and in the hospital.

In 2017, he took part in the countdown and scored the third highest score during the series.

Finally, before being defeated, he won eight competitions in a row and competed more than 11 episodes.

Cowen’s penalty hearing was postponed waiting for psychiatric reports until September 30th.
