Karnataka Rathna for Vishnuvardhan, Sarojadevi

The cabinet, which was held on Thursday, decided to give the state’s highest civilian prize ‘Karnataka Rathna’ to popular Kannada film actors Vishnuvardhan and B. Sarojadevi. Vishnuvardhan died in December 2009, Sarojadevi passed away in July this year.

Vishnuvardhan starred in more than 200 films in his four -year career, and Sarojadevi took part in more than 200 films in a twenty -year career.

Bharat Ratna’s suggestion to Kuvempu:

The cabinet also decided to recommend Bharat Ratna to the center to give Bharat Ratna after his death to Venkatappa Puttappa, the Literary icon of Kannada, known as popularly popular by Penname Kuvempu. The author passed away in November 1994.

Kuvempu, the first author of the Jnanpith Award, is also the author of the state anthem Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate.
