WA measles alert after two more cases related to overseas travel reported, exposure sites revealed

Health officials, Western Aussies after two other cases of overseas travels, the measles of measles to be up to date before school holidays call.
After cases associated with overseas travel to Bali, contact continued to monitor, while infectious between August 26th and 6th of September visited almost a dozen places in the northern suburbs of Perth.
The first site listed is the Qantas Flight QF2925 from Christmas Creek Maden to Perth on the morning of August 26th.
A public health warning, “Anyone who visits a exposure to the dates and periods of the specified dates and periods should watch for symptoms of measles,” he said.
The exact exposure times of these sites, which contain supermarkets and a service station, have not yet been approved.
Infectious Diseases Director Clare Huppatz, “Especially popular holiday places such as South East Asia, there is a risk of measles from abroad,” he said.
Dr Huppatz reminded that families expanded the vaccination program of WA health recently to the countries with high measles for infants between six and 11 months to include MMR (measles, mumps, measles) vaccinations.
Vaccination is recommended at least two weeks before leaving.
If a baby receives an additional mmr jab before 12 months, the routine offered under the national vaccination program will need two dose.
The WA’s total live Caselooad brings 35 to 35, almost six times the six cases recorded in 2024, and maximum six times in Australia in 2025.
The fifteen of the cases were identified between July and September, five of which were purchased abroad and 10 locally.
High transmission virus can cause serious illness, especially in infants. Symptoms contain fever, fatigue, nose, red eyes and cough.
A few days later, it follows a significant red rash that typically starts on the face and head before spreading to the rest of the body.
Anyone who returns from overseas countries that develop symptoms should be urgently in contact with their GPs. To discuss the situation in advance, call and install a mask to prevent spreading infection to others.
