Moving to another country is very exciting, but it can also be overwhelming – some expatriates never go back after they leave the British coast. A British mother who spent her childhood holidays in Türkiye decided to move to the country for eight years.

Claire, a mother of someone, devoted it to work as a holiday representative of Thomas Cook for about ten years.

During this time, he usually selected the place he preferred every season and was often placed wherever he wanted.

“For some reason, my way was taking me out of Marmaris, and then I couldn’t get it the way I really wanted to stay – I would do something to stay. But I needed a reason to stay, and at first it was my job to keep me there, but I thought you told me to go to me.”

Ready to progress, Claire returned to England and started to work as a hotel receptionist with a role that still has a role today.

However, Claire found that it was much more difficult than it was expected to re -adjust to England.

He described his first two years as “terrible” in England and said he was “very boring and depressing.”

Claire summarized how opposite life in Türkiye: “This was just the whole lifestyle – you will finish working in bright sunlight, you will have a beach in front of your business office. The whole lifestyle is very different here.”

After two years of difficulty, Claire announced that he had an additional effort to “try his best to belong.”

He went out socially and soon met with his Turkish husband.

He explained: “I liked to be with him because he reminded me of my past, and now I still love them – I feel that I have not lost eight years because I have reminded me of a lot of reminding me and I love it.”

As a parent in the UK, Claire will get more support from Türkiye, but it does not eliminate thinking of re -placement in the future.
