Speaking with journalists when leaving Israel for Qatar, Rubio said the attack had begun.
“Well, the Israelites began to take operations there. So we think we have a very short time window where an agreement can take place,” Rubio said. “We don’t have months anymore, and we probably have days and maybe a few weeks, so it’s an important moment – an important moment.”
“Our preference is that our election number 1 is to end through a negotiated agreement,” he added, accepted the dangers of an intensive military campaign in Gaza.
“The only thing that is worse than a war is a long thing that lasts forever,” Rubio said. “At some point, this must end. At some point, Hamas needs to be deformed and we hope it may be through a negotiation. But I think unfortunately time is running out.”
Palestinian residents reported heavy strikes in the Gaza City on Tuesday morning.
Hospital General Manager The Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, Gaza Mhanna, took the bodies of 12 people killed in a strike that hit more than one house in the western part of the city and 90 more wounded came to the facility.
Radwan Hayder, a resident of a Gaza city near Shifa Hospital, said, “It was a heavy night.”
The Israeli army did not answer questions for hours as to whether the attack started. However, Katz seemed to indicate that it continued in an article on the social platform X.
“Gaza is burning,” he wrote. “(Israeli army) in the terror infrastructure with a iron fist and (Israel) soldiers (Israel) soldiers are fighting heroically to create conditions for the release of hostages and the defeat of Hamas. We will not worry and we will not return until the completion of the task.”
Both Netanyahu and Rubio said in a statement on Monday that the only way to end the conflict in Gaza was the elimination of Hamas and the release of the remaining 48 hostages – about 20 of them were alive – a call for a fire in favor of the end of the conflict.
Hamas said that only Palestinian prisoners, a permanent ceasefire and Israel will withdraw from Gaza.
