Comcast plans to cut jobs at its biggest unit, housing broadband and pay TV, to centralize operations, source says

September 19 (Reuters) – ComCast is trying to centralize the company’s operations and support the broadband business, while the XFinity Internet, a source familiar to the issue on Friday, plans to cut the largest unit of mobile and payment television business.

As of January, Comcast will remove a layer between corporate and regional offices, facilitate the management of the unit, but will also reduce the number of personnel.

The connection and platform unit, which also operates the SKY brand throughout the European -wide, has a three -layer management structure where regional teams currently report to the heads of the department and then serve as a connection to the company center.

Following the amendments, according to a note sent to employees seen by Reuters, regional leaders will directly report to a new administrative supervision operations throughout the country. The source said it would have business cuts, but Comcast is still trying to determine which roles to centralize.

Over the years, Comcast has made several changes in the unit and centralization of operations such as marketing, legal and finance at institutional level.

In mid -April, the company presented new pricing plans with five -year price locks for the new wide band customers to be shaken in Xfinity Internet service.

The latest news of potential business interruptions comes with the company trying to turn around a large band job, which has a wireless competitors such as AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.

In the note of the employees, the company said the façade teams that support customers (such as customer service and retail) will not be affected. He did not explain how many positions would be affected.
