Zelenskiy says Ukrainian forces inflict heavy losses on Russia in counteroffensive
(Reuters) – Ukrainian troops pressure on a front respect around the two cities in the east of the country on Friday, and President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that the Russian forces were severely lost.
Russia said that its forces caught two new villages in slow progress in the east and south of Ukraine, but the Ministry of Defense did not refer to Ukraine Drive close to Pokrovsk and Dobropillia towns.
Zelenskiy, every night at the video address, against the opposite -offient Pokrovsk Logistics Center, said that he broke Russian plans in his targets.
Zelenskiy said, “There was one of the most important aspects of the Russian attack, and they could not start a full -fledged attack. He destroys our forces of army.” He said.
He continued: “The Russians suffered significant losses and for our country ‘Stock Exchange Fund’ has been significantly renewed – more Russian prisoners are taken every day.”
Oleksandr Syrskyi, the highest level commander of Ukraine, wrote in Telegram that their forces were moving three to seven km (two to four miles) until Russian defenses.
At the video address, Zelenskiy said that Ukrainian forces have been holding the positions of Ukraine around Kupansk, an area of the northeast Kharkiv region, which has been subject to Russian attacks for months.
On Thursday, Zelenskiy said that the Ukrainian forces had captured seven settlements and 160 km square (62 sq miles) around Pokrovsk and Dobropillia since the operation began. Another nine settlements was “cleaning” of enemy forces.
The Donetsk region, which was only partially invaded by Russia, but wanted Moscow to leave before any peace agreement, continues to be the place of the most intense war.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that their forces have captured two more regions – more than southwest Novoivanivka in Muravka and Zaporizhzhia region in the southwest of Pokrovsk.
The general staff of the Ukrainian army listed Muravka as one of the few settlements where their forces stopped 87 attacks near Pokrovsk.
A senior official in the administration appointed by Russia in the Donetsk region areas organized by Moscow, Russia’s TASS news agency’s Russian forces are currently controlling all roads and other logistics around Pokrovsk.
Reuters could not confirm Battlefield reports independently of both sides.
