Another slide on one of the billboards quotes the Holy Quran: “Remember what the angels said: ‘O Mary! Allah gives you good news of a word from Him; his name is Jesus Christ, son of Mary; he is honored in this world and the hereafter, and he will be among those closest to Allah.'”
An Instagram post discussing the billboards reads: “Our two New York billboards are an act of cultural resistance: ‘Jesus is Palestinian. Merry Christmas.’ “Quran verse heralding the blessed birth of Jesus (3:45), with the phrase ‘Merry Christmas’ in English and Arabic.”

Modern-day Bethlehem, revered as the birthplace of Jesus Christ, is located in the West Bank and has a Muslim-majority population. At the time of Jesus’ birth, the city was located in Judea. The percentage of Bethlehem’s Christian population in the area has decreased significantly since the 1950s.
The State of Palestine, which is not recognized by the United States and is not a member of the United Nations, was established in 1988.
Adeb Ayoub, the national director of the organization, said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital: “There will be disagreements and debates about the names. But one thing is indisputable, Israel has been killing Christians in the place where Jesus was born with impunity for decades. Yesterday, Christmas was celebrated in Bethlehem for the first time in 3 years. American taxpayers are paying the price for the persecution of Christians. [sic] “Israel is now aware of this fact.”

Ayoub added: “The Israeli State Department also bought advertising space on the same billboard to counter our messages, so American taxpayers are paying the price for the killing of Christians and the propaganda campaign to cover up Israel’s atrocities. Media outlets had no coverage of the killing of Christians by Israel. But if you put a billboard in Times Square, the coverage would be there. Unfortunately, that billboard is the only way for media outlets to discuss Christians in the Holy Land. Time to write about Christians living in the Holy Land.” Thank you for your time. God bless all people of faith and God bless the United States of America.”
