A.P. government approves ₹3.07 crore bridge over Chama Canal in Nandyal

The state government has approved the construction of a bridge over the Chama Canal in Nandyal town to ease traffic congestion affecting thousands of people during heavy rain and floods.
Minister for Minority Welfare and Nandyal MLA N. MD Farooq directed the officials to prepare plans and suggested that NGO Colony be associated with Srinivasa Nagar and Nunepalle. Based on the proposed plans, the MLA brought the issue to the notice of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Accordingly, a 2.5 kilometer Double Lane Road Bridge (DLRB) over Chama Canal opposite Sri Ram theater has been approved at a cost of ₹ 3.07 crore.
With the construction of the bridge, the NGO Colony will be directly connected to the main road, thus easing traffic congestion. Officials said there are two roads connecting the NGO Colony to the main road: one passing through Ramakrishna Degree College and the other opposite the Government General Hospital (GGH).
The road opposite GGH witnesses heavy traffic and the low-level bridge over Chama Canal near Ramakrishna Degree college gets submerged during floods, cutting off connectivity with NGO Colony. Officials said that the construction of the bridge would be a solution to the problem.
