A rat spotted on a plane prompts KLM to cancel a flight departure for safety reasons

Vacation travelers faced an uninvited guest on a plane bound for a sunny destination.
Passengers traveling from Amsterdam to the Caribbean saw a mouse running around their cabin.
The KLM flight was bound for Aruba, where it was then supposed to continue to the island of Bonaire.

Passengers waiting to board the flight to Bonaire were informed that the flight was stopped and the trip was ultimately cancelled.
A KLM spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that this was a “very exceptional incident.”

“The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew is always our top priority,” the spokesman said.

“That’s why we canceled the flight from Aruba [to] Bonaire,” the spokesman added, “so that the aircraft could be thoroughly cleaned before being returned to service.”

In a video shared on social mediaPeople called the mouse “huge”.
He was seen running quickly along the ceiling curtain in the cabin.

Mice can pose a serious risk to public health by spreading disease.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), threats include bacterial and viral diseases such as monkeypox, leptospirosis and salmonellosis.

Rodents can also cause mouse bite fever (RBF), which can cause flu-like symptoms such as fever, vomiting, muscle pain, and possible rashes.
The CDC notes that “RBF can be spread to humans through scratches, bites, or contact with rodent saliva or pee.”

As Fox News Digital reported at the time, a mouse and an otter were smuggled into a passenger’s bag on a flight from Bangkok to Taiwan in 2023.
