India, US in Continuous Talks on Bilateral Trade Pact; November Deadline Still Possible

Doha: India and the United States are constantly involved in dialogue on the proposed bilateral trade agreement, and all possibilities are to meet the deadline for the conclusion of the Minister of Trade and Industry, Pussh Goyal, the Minister of Trade and Industry. He said that the next trade negotiations in physical mode may be involved in the US closing mode, now that it can be included in the closing mode.
“AAP Sub jante traitor that usa me aaaj-kal government closure mode me hai, toh uske maddenazar dekdenazar dekdenazar dekga kaıse bais-ceet ha sai haı haı, aur kab hoı haı, aur kab Ho Saktı haı (as you can be kept in the closing mode of the United States, when it will be in the closing mode, when it will happen to the newspaper,” he said.
Since the Congress could not pass a financing invoice, the US government has stopped working since midnight. Theoretically, this means that many government employees will not be paid for now and that service centers are closed. However, important operations such as defense and social work will continue to function.
Goyal is here for a daily official visit. He leads a business delegation and discusses ways to increase trade and investment ties between the two countries.
“We are constantly in dialogue with the US (on the trade agreement) and the talks are at various levels. We will soon give more information about how we are thinking of taking it forward.” He said.
“There is every possibility,” he said, when asked whether the two sides are dependent on the deadline to finalize the negotiations. Last month, the Minister directed an official delegation to New York for trade talks. After this meeting, India and the United States decided to continue negotiations for an early consequence of a mutual bilateral trade agreement.
Both sides held constructive meetings on various aspects of the trade agreement. During the visit, the Minister held meetings with the US Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer and the US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor.
These negotiations were important because the United States took place after 25 percent of the United States had further punished Indian goods entering the American market to buy Russian crude oil. Currently, a total of 50 percent additional import taxes are applied to Indian goods.
In February of this year, leaders of the two countries led the proposed Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) to negotiate. The first slice of the pact was planned to be finalized in the autumn of 2025 (October-November). Five rounds have been negotiated so far. PACT aims to double the bilateral trade from the US $ 2030 to 2030.
The US remained the largest trade partner in India for the fourth year in 2024-25, and the bilateral trade is worth 131.84 billion USD (US $ 86.5 billion export). The United States constitutes approximately 18 percent of India’s total exports of goods, 6.22 percent in imports and 10.73 percent in the total trade of goods of the country.
