Multiple people stabbed on UK train near Cambridgeshire station, 2 arrested

“Several” people were stabbed on a train in the United Kingdom on Saturday night, according to police.

The attack in Huntigdon, Cambridgeshire, took place before 8pm local time and two people were arrested after 10 people were stabbed, according to authorities.

“We were called at 7.39pm to reports of multiple stabbings on a train,” Cambridgeshire Constabulary wrote. “Armed officers attended the scene and the train was stopped at Huntingdon, where two people were arrested. A number of people were taken to hospital.”

Huntingdon is roughly 30 miles northwest of Cambridge and approximately 75 miles north of London.

Local police said: British Transport Police was conducting the investigation.

British member of parliament (MP) Ben Obese-Jecty, who represents Huntingdon, shared late Saturday that he was aware of the incident and was trying to get more information.

“My thoughts are with the victims and those involved,” he wrote.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also expressed his sympathy for X.

“The horrific incident on a train near Huntingdon is extremely worrying,” he wrote. “My thoughts are with everyone affected and I would like to thank the emergency services for their response. Everyone in the area should follow police advice.”

The local football club also sent thoughts and prayers following the attack.

“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Huntingdon Town FC are with the victims and their families of this evening’s local incident,” the club wrote on X at around 11pm local time on Saturday night. “We send our thanks and thoughts to our colleagues in the police, ambulance and other agencies affected.”
