18 August 2025 12:06 | News

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joined Volodymyr Zelenskiy and world leaders in a virtual connection to support the President of Ukraine before an important meeting.

Vasyl Myroshnychenko, Australian Ambassador of Ukraine, called for more international pressure on Russia before Mr. Zelenskiy met with US President Donald Trump at his oval office on Monday (local time).

The willing coalition, which includes more than 30 countries in which they support Ukraine, organized a telephone conversation at a night (Aest) by US Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Mr. Myroshnychenko welcomed Australia’s support and said he should stay in Russia, including strangling his economy with sanctions to prevent his ability to fight.

AAP said, “It is important that you are a part of this and that Australia is determined,” AAP said.

“The main purpose of the willing coalition was to help Ukraine win the war with fair conditions, and the way to do so was to put pressure on Russia and put new sanctions on Russia.

“The important thing is the consistency of this. The important thing is Australia continues.”

Australia supported $ 1.5 billion in Ukraine with the latest military aid package of the 49 Abrams tanks announced in October 2024.

The ambassador requested more support to help Ukraine’s defenses, including more armored personnel vehicles.

“We will be very grateful for more help,” he said.

“At the end of the day, Russia did not commit anything, they did not say they would stop.

“Any security guarantee for Ukraine contains a strong army.”

Deputy Foreign Minister Matt Thistlethwaite said that Australia is affiliated to Ukraine and that it was effective when joining the similar thinking countries, even though it could not only move the cadre in the war.

“Frankly, we want to see peace, but the people of Ukraine and their regional integrity cannot come at the expense of their regional integrity, Monda said Monday.

When asked about the possibility of further sanctions against Russia, Mr. Thisttlehwaite said that he would not prevent the prime minister’s announcement or not to announce it in the coming days ”.

European leaders, including the European Commission President Ursula von Der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, will join Mr. Zelenskiy in Washington.

Britain, French, German, Italian and Finnish leaders are forcing Russia to protect the land added from Ukraine.

This was followed by Mr. Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska at the weekend, following a peace plan after the couple’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

The agreement was not announced, but the US ambassador Steve Witkoff said that Russia has accepted some of the concessions of some concessions and the safety game -changing ”security guarantees.

Ukraine refused to throw any region to Russia within the scope of the ceasefire or peace agreement.

Mr. Zelenskiy called for a security guarantee similar to NATO Pact, which has a mutual defense article, stating that the attack on a member was attacking all members.

Ukraine is not a NATO member, but wants to participate in the alliance, which is opposed to Russia.

Mr. Witkoff said that Mr. Putin agreed to allow the US and European countries to allow Ukraine to provide a security guarantee during his meeting with Mr. Trump, but Russia still believes that NATO membership is a “red flag ..

“We were able to win the privilege below, and that the US could offer five similar protection, which is one of the real reasons why Ukraine wants to be in NATO,” he said.

This concession said, ik We’ve heard for the first time that the Russians accepted it. “
