In September last year, actor Karisma Kapoor’s two children approached the high court seeking a share of their late father Sunjay Kapur’s assets, challenging his will dated March 21, 2025, which allegedly left all his personal assets to their step-mother Priya Sachdev Kapur.
On Friday, a Bench of Justice AS Chandurkar took up Priya Sachdev Kapur’s plea in the assembly and sought Karisma Kapoor’s response within two weeks, sources said.
Sources said the Bollywood actor’s lawyer opposed the plea and raised objections on the maintainability of the plea on the grounds that Priya Sachdev Kapur was a third party unrelated to the 2016 agreement and had no legal basis.
Karisma Kapoor was represented by lawyers Ravi Sharma and Apoorv Shukla, who argued that the terms of consent and the divorce decree were already in the hands of Priya Sachdev Kapur. Priya Sachdev Kapur’s lawyer stated that these documents are directly relevant to the current estate case in which issues related to financial circumstances, alimony and post-divorce obligations have been raised repeatedly before the Delhi High Court.
Sunjay Kapur died after falling ill during a polo match played in England on June 12 last year. It was reported that he had a sudden heart attack.
