Nimisha Priya case: In touch with local authorities in Yemen to resolve issue, says External Affairs Ministry

Nimisha Priya’s execution was planned on July 16, but was postponed.
India said on Thursday, July 17, 2025, with local officials in Yemen and some friendly nations in finding a solution to the Nimisha Priya case, a Indian nurse during death.

The nurse from Kollengode in the Palakkad region of Kerala was found guilty of killing a Yemeni citizen in July 2017.
“This is a delicate issue and the Indian government offers all possible aids in the case, Rand He said.
“We provided legal assistance and appointed a lawyer to help the family. We also organized regular consular visits and we were in constant contact with local authorities and family members to solve the issue.” He said.

This has recently included common efforts to seek more time to reach a mutually acceptable solution with the other side of the Priya family.
“We continue to follow the issue closely and provide all possible help. We are also in contact with some friendly governments.” He said.
