The United Asha Federation (KSUAWF), the state of Karnataka, a member of the United Union Center (AICA), decided to stay away from the task for three days while organizing a state -wide protest since August 12th.
President of the State Federation K. Somashekar Yadgiri addressed a press conference in Kalaburagi on Wednesday. He said that approximately 42,000 companions throughout the state will be out of duty and will organize a day and night protest in their regions as of August 12th.
Mr. Yadgiri asked the government to pay 10,000 ° a fixed honorary per month for his companions.
In January 2025, Ashas’ state -wide protest was withdrawn after announcement that Prime Minister Siddaramaiah revised to 10,000 Honi since April. However, the state government continued to ignore it and could not address its demands even after five months.
Mr. Yadgiri criticized the state government’s idea of assigning an asha per 2,000 population as an ASHA per 1000 against the current standard. He also opposed the abolition of additional companions because it was deemed necessary for health care access and community support.
Ashas plays an important role in health awareness and in the implementation of health programs introduced by both the state and central governments. In fact, he said it was the first contact point for health services in rural areas.
Among their demands include paying incentives that matched and creating a Corpus fund for the welfare of Ashas.
