Queen Camilla had a great time meeting Paddington Bear at Windsor Castle yesterday. Her Majesty welcomed the beloved bear, wearing his famous blue coat and red hat, to Windsor Castle on Wednesday to attend a reception featuring finalists, judges and celebrity readers to celebrate the final of the BBC’s creative writing competition 500 Words.
Bear performed at the Grand Final of BBC 500 Words, the country’s most famous children’s writing competition, and was one of many guests to attend the reception at Windsor Castle. Doctor Who actress Jodie Whittaker attended the ceremony, along with Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page and TV presenters Bradley and Barney Walsh.

Camilla looked delighted to meet Paddington Bear at the event, which celebrated talented young writers from across the UK. The meeting between His Majesty and the Peruvian bear took place in the Grand Reception Hall. Leaning down to speak to Paddington, he said: “Thank you very much for coming all the way from Peru, you are very kind. And you will give all your marmalade sandwiches to these children and maybe I can have one too, thank you very much.”
