Grand Anicut (Kallani Dam), 24,486 feet cube per second, matched with an equal exit and provided smooth water distribution along the Cauvery Delta system. The total output from the dam stands exactly 24,486 Cusecs distributed between large irrigation channels and river branches. This version will benefit the ongoing agricultural activities in Delta Region. This 1,875 -year -old dam was built by Karikalan, a former King of Chola around 150 AD, and stands as one of the oldest water editing structures in the world that is still in use. The dam on the Kaveri River plays an important role in irrigation in Tiruchirapalli and Thanjavur regions.
