Afghan refugee is charged with murder of dog walker stabbed to death in Uxbridge

An Afghan refugee has been charged with the stabbing death of a man walking his dog in Uxbridge.

Safi Dawood, 22, was charged following a triple stabbing at Midhurst Gardens in Uxbridge, west London, on Monday afternoon.

He was charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

It was claimed that the Afghan citizen stabbed 49-year-old Wayne Broadhurst and he died at the scene.

He allegedly injured a 45-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy during the attack.

While the teenager was discharged, the man remains in hospital with life-changing injuries.

The Home Office previously confirmed that the Afghan national entered the UK in a truck in 2020 and requested asylum in 2022.

The Metropolitan Police said Mr Broadhurst, who died at the scene, did not know him, but two other alleged victims knew him.

Jaswant Narwal, CPS London North Crown prosecutor, said: ‘Following a shocking triple stabbing in Uxbridge on Monday evening, the Crown Prosecution Service today announced that 22-year-old Safi Dawood has been charged with the murder of Wayne Broadhurst and the attempted murder of two others.

‘Our prosecutors worked to establish that there was sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to trial and that it was in the public interest to pursue criminal prosecution.

‘We worked closely with the Metropolitan Police Service as they carried out their investigation.’

Dawood was evaluated when he was taken into custody and later required hospital treatment after suffering a medical episode.

Police said: ‘We are aware of speculation on social media about this investigation and would remind the media and public not to share anything that could hinder future court proceedings.’

He has since been returned to police custody, where he remains pending a court appearance.

Dawood will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

This is breaking news, more to come…
