The 23-year-old was left shattered when he dislocated his right shoulder during a tackle from Brisbane’s Lincoln McCarthy on Saturday night.

Lions forward McCarthy was returning to the AFL after almost two years out due to serious knee injuries.

Gülden was clearly in pain but was able to walk off the pitch and return from the Swans’ dressing room with his arm in a sling.

The latest injury setback comes after Gulden missed the first half of the 2025 season after suffering an ankle injury in the preseason.

He returned to play 10 matches, of which Sydney won seven.

Gulden has made a strong start to this season, making 27 disposals against Carlton and then recording 20 touches and a goal against Brisbane.

Heeney also looks set to serve on the sidelines after the Lions ended his game early with what the Swans called a “tight” hamstring.

“That was something we didn’t want to risk,” coach Dean Cox said after the game.

Sydney will face another big test when they take on Hawthorn at the MCG on Thursday night.
