Trump Snaps at Reporter for Asking Why He Can Vote by Mail: ‘Because I’m the President’

Donald Trump lashed out at a reporter who asked why Americans could vote by mail despite ignoring the option to vote. “cheat.”

The encounter took place during the Q&A session of the Cabinet meeting on Thursday; Meanwhile, PBS White House correspondent Liz Landers noted that Trump himself “recently” voted by mail.

“Go ahead and tell me about mail-in ballots,” he told Landers, interrupting Landers as he spoke. He acknowledged that he had, in fact, exercised his right to send his ballot by mail.

“Are you saying I used a mail-in ballot, that’s probably what you said? Yes I did,” Trump continued. “You know why? Because I’m the President of the United States. And because I’m the President of the United States, I voted by mail for the election in Florida – because I felt like I should be here instead of out in the beautiful sunshine.”

“But you were in Palm Beach the last few weekends, sir,” Landers replied.

“True,” Trump replied. “I decided to vote by mail because I couldn’t be there because I had so many different things going on.”

Stating that there are “exceptions”, he continued as follows: his push against mail-in voting while defending himself and his decision.

“We have exceptions for mail-in ballots. You know that, right? So if you’re remote, we have an exception,” Trump said. “We have an exception if you’re in the military. If you’re on a business trip, we have an exception. If you’re disabled, we have an exception. If you’re sick, if you’re not feeling well. That’s why I was away. I was mostly in Washington, D.C., so I used a mail-in ballot.”

He closed by sarcastically claiming that he appreciated Landers’ question.

“Because I know it was very well-intentioned,” Trump said.
