The Masked Singer leaves fans shocked as Arctic Fox and Monkey Business are revealed as a noughties star and Strictly legend in double elimination twist

The Masked Singer viewers and judges were stunned when Kate Nash and Anton Du Beke’s Monkey Business and Arctic Fox masks were removed on Saturday.

Contestants Toastie, Red Panda, Monkey Business, Fox, Can of Worms, Conkers, Moth and Sloth sang their hearts out while carefully concealed.

They performed for judges Maya Jama, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and guest star Perrie Edwards, but for Kate and Anton, it was their last performance on the show.

The Foundations hitmaker, 38, sang As Long As He Needs Me from the musical Oliver and revealed that he has lots of coffee tips because he starred in Coffee Wars and Syrup.

A clapperboard read ‘Take 615’, the area code for Nashville; which alluded to the singer’s surname.

And at one point he said ‘there’s a lot of competitors in this business’, which was a reference to Rivals actor Danny Dyer appearing in the Wasteman music video.

His statement left the panel and the audience in shock; They speculated that Lily Allen, Kimberly Wyatt or Shona McGarty could be behind the mask.

Kate said: ‘I’ve been talking to the team, everyone who works here is so nice. And I’ve allowed myself to just have fun and do things that are about having fun because I tour a lot and I get pretty political.

‘So it was nice to have a few laughs, sing a few songs and just enjoy the performance and the music. I’m not interested in anyone who doesn’t have a stupid billy inside.’

Also unmasked was Judge and icon Anton, who performed Barbra Streisand’s Woman in Love.

He used seven acorns as a clue because the star was from Sevenoaks, Kent.

The flour sacks were also a reference to his being a baker when he was young, and his being “at the bottom of the pile” was a sign of when he was named Back of the Year.

He said: ‘I’m so glad you think this is a transvestite because I was giving it a full RuPaul beef.

‘I was squeezing and letting go every second, I don’t know how to come back.’

The flour sacks were also a reference to his being a baker when he was young, and being at the “bottom of success” was a crux of the time he was named Back of the Year.

Anton added that he “loved every second of it” and was “devastated to be voted out.”‘.

The TV personality also said prancing around in Arctic Fox’s boots was ‘so natural’ and, in a nod to her Strictly career, joked: ‘This isn’t my first rodeo.’

Maya, 31, looked incredible in a floor-length white dress with a fishtail finish and gold floral print, and the outfit showed off her striking silhouette.

Meanwhile, 58-year-old Davina attracted attention with a high-collared, hot pink mini dress with an open front, matching heels.

Jonathan paired his co-star with a bright pink jacket, while Mo looked dapper in a navy blue and black tuxedo.

Guest judge Perrie, who was pregnant at the time of filming but welcomed her second baby with footballer fiancé Alex Oxlade last week, looked incredible in a pink and white multi-coloured sequin minidress.

Last week, viewers and judges were stunned when legendary ’90s pop star Marcella Detroit, singer of Shakespeare’s Sisters, was unmasked as the Gargoyle.

After some very entertaining performances, unfortunately Sloth and Gargoyle were the ones in the bottom two.

Fighting for a place in the competition, Sloth performed a version of Tommy Steele’s 1979 song Flash Bang Wallop, while Gargoyle covered Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ song Bad Reputation.

Unfortunately, it was Gargoyle who was sent home, and the judges guessed it could be Cindy Lauper, Joan Jett, Wendy James, Ruby Wax, or Fiona Bruce.

But they were all wrong when the Gargoyle was eventually unmasked as Marcella.

A week before John Lydon was revealed to be Yak.

Monkey Business and Yak faced off in a casting competition in front of the panelists, but Yak did not receive enough votes to stay in the competition and was ultimately eliminated by the judges after performing Olivia Newton-John’s ’80s hit Physical.

And before that week, on Sunday night’s show, Matt Lucas was revealed to be the Emperor Penguin.

The 51-year-old comedian impressed fans with his vocal chords during a performance with a band before joining the judging panel as a guest.

And it was a double whammy when Teabag was voted out and revealed to be 42-year-old rapper Professor Green.
