Artificial intelligence is stepping into the fight against cancer, and Fox News senior medical analyst Dr. According to Marc Siegel, this could be a game changer.
Artificial intelligence is already changing the way doctors detect and treat cancer and could lead to real cures within the next decade, Siegel said on Monday’s episode of “Fox & Friends.”
“I think we’ll start to see a lot of treatments within five to 10 years,” Siegel said, calling this moment in medical science “great news.”

“AI works against cancer in two ways,” Siegel said. “First of all, it helps you diagnose it before it turns into cancer.”
He pointed to an artificial intelligence program from Harvard called Sybil; This program analyzes lung scans to identify areas that may later become cancer, long before a radiologist sees them.

“If the AI finds problem parts of the lungs, radiologists can track whether that problem spot is getting worse,” the doctor said.

Technology doesn’t end there. Siegel also explained how AI helps scientists tailor treatments to the individual, identifying “drug targets within the cancer molecule itself that vary from one cancer patient to the next.”
He added that AI can help deliver personalized treatments that significantly improve survival rates by matching the right drug to the right patient.

“AI will tell you that this drug will work for that person, not that person,” Siegel said. “This will provide treatments for many different types of cancer over the next five to 10 years.”

Previous studies have explored the potential of AI to detect cancers at earlier stages. Fox News’ Ainsley Earhardt cited recent reports on breast cancer detection, where AI can detect subtle irregularities that doctors might miss.

Siegel agreed, saying “using AI with a great radiologist” could help find cancer “before it turns into cancer.”

In the episode, Siegel referred to his new book “Miracles Among Us” and said that faith and belief itself can also be healing. (iStock)
Although much of the talk focused on science, Siegel also talked about faith and hope, two themes central to his new book, “Miracles Among Us.”

Faith itself, he told Earhardt, could be healing.
“If you surround yourself with people of faith and understand that God is a more powerful force, you can have less depression, less anxiety,” he said.

Citing Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Siegel added that medicine and faith can work together.
“Doctors are the hands of God,” he said. “They will work with God to perform nearly impossible miracles.”
