New snow maps show exact date blizzards hit as far south as Brighton – 20 cities buried | Weather | News
England is preparing for snowfall that will hit 20 cities in the coming weeks. Snow is expected on Wednesday, March 11, according to the latest weather maps from WX Charts.
Maps show that snowfall hit parts of the country as early as 6am, with more areas affected from 12pm onwards. Showers are expected in many major cities including Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds and Sheffield. As well as snow, weather maps show temperatures dropping towards freezing across the UK on 11 March.
By 6am both Swansea and Cardiff are expected to see up to 1mm of snowfall per hour. Meanwhile, Sheffield could see up to 30cm of snow falling at once.
The snow is expected to get heavier as the morning progresses, and showers are also expected in some cities. Snowfall is expected to fall as far south as Brighton, while Exeter and London are also expected to be affected.
Snow will be heaviest across Birmingham, Chester and much of Yorkshire at 12pm. Maps show that the white stuff falling at this time was up to 30 cm.
Meanwhile, the mercury will drop towards freezing in some areas across the UK. Temperatures in the South West are expected to drop to -1C by 12pm on 11 March.
Similar temperatures will be seen on the south coast, while the temperature in London will be 0C at the same time. Bristol will see a temperature of 1 degree Celsius, while the Midlands is expected to be the coldest region.
According to the maps, temperatures in the Midlands will drop to -2C by 12pm. Below-freezing temperatures are expected throughout the region.
Further north in Manchester temperatures can be expected to be -1C, while in Newcastle the temperature is expected to be 0C. Conditions will be warmer in Scotland with a maximum temperature of 7C.
