Air India completes DGCA-mandated fuel switch checks on Boeing 787, 737 fleets; says ‘no issues found’

Airline successfully completed the precautionary audits on the Fuel Control Key (FCS) locking mechanism in the entire fleet of Air India, Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Boeing 737 aircraft.

Air India began to examine after the Boeing 787 Dreamliner fell in Ahmedabad last month and after killing 260 people.

Inspections were carried out on 14 July 2025 in line with the directives published by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The Boeing 737 fleet, operated by Air India’s low -cost arm Air India Express, was also included in these comprehensive checks.

Air India has completed precautionary investigations on the locking mechanism of the fuel control switch (FCS) on the whole Boeing 787 and the Boeing 737 aircraft in its fleet.

The Boeing 737 aircraft is part of Air India’s low -cost subsidiary Air India Express Fleet. However, the two airlines followed the directives of the DGCA, which was published on July 14, 2025.

In the inspections, no problem with the locking mechanism in question was found. Air India began voluntary inspections on July 12 and completed them in the time limit determined by the DGCA. The same thing was forwarded to the regulator.

Air India AI-171 plane crash in Ahmedabad

On June 12, 2025, Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, fell tragically to his flight shortly after the departure at 13: 39.

The report shows that both engines have lost driving power due to fuel hunger, and that fuel control switches have moved from “Run” to “Cutting” shortly after starting. This occurred in three seconds, the keys changed within one second.

Although the pre -findings confirm that the aircraft is suitable for the air, the exact cause of the key movement is investigated with appropriate take -off settings and satisfactory fuel quality.

The investigation is carried out in accordance with international protocols by AAIB cooperation with the US National Transportation Security Board (NTSB). Black boxes (cockpit audio recorder and flight data recorder) were recovered and their data were increased to June 25, 2025 and now continued to restructure events.

A high -level multidisciplinary committee was established by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to examine the reasons and propose advanced standard operating procedures.
