Airlines cancel flights from Caracas after ‘heightened military activity’ alert | World | News

Many international airlines canceled their flights from Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, as fears of new military activity emerged following a stern warning by authorities.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a warning to airlines on Saturday about flights passing through Venezuela, citing a deteriorating security environment and increased military activity in and around the country. The warning highlights growing concerns about potential risks to civil aircraft in the region, as tensions and instability could pose a danger to aviation security.
By warning airlines, the FAA aims to ensure increased awareness and precautionary measures are taken to protect passengers and crew amid this volatile situation.
TAP Air Portugal has confirmed that it has canceled flights planned for Saturday and next Tuesday.
“This decision follows information published by US aviation authorities showing that safety conditions in Venezuelan airspace are not guaranteed,” the airline said.
