NFL news: Cowboys’ George Pickens makes impression on Jerry Jones

George Pickens shined once again for the Dallas Cowboys, putting together another incredible play to help the team solidify their comeback victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Pickens had nine catches for 146 yards and a touchdown. He helped extend the Cowboys’ final drive and set up Brandon Aubrey for the game-winning 42-yard field goal. Dallas won the game 24-21 after trailing 21-0 in the second quarter.

Dallas acquired Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason. He was a thorn in the side of the Steelers before the Cowboys signed him as a flyer and traded a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
It turned out to be more boom than crash. So much so that the team’s owner, Jerry Jones, talked about Pickens’ talents and what he meant to the team.

Jones added that he wants Pickens to return to the Cowboys in 2026 and beyond.
“Sure, sure,” Jones added. “We’re proud to have him and I don’t even want to play games with him. We’d love to have him on the team. By the way, I’d love to be with him.” [Lamb] in the team. I know what we want here, but we definitely like the combination to really allow us to attack offensively.
“I’m proud that he had the season he had. It’s far beyond anything we could have hoped for.”
Pickens already has career highs in receptions (67) and touchdown catches (8) this season. He has 1,054 receiving yards and is on the verge of setting a new career mark in that statistical category. He had 1,140 receiving yards in 2023 with the Steelers.
