Alaskan Dream Cruises: Cherished cruise line shuts down unexpectedly after 15 years in the industry

A popular Alaskan cruise ship has quietly sailed off into the sunset — for good this time.
Alaskan Dream Cruises has ceased operations after 15 years and announced this week that it has completed its final voyage.
The small-ship operator, known for its intimate cruises in Southeast Alaska, confirmed the closure via a Facebook status last week.
“Effective immediately, Alaskan Dream Cruises has ceased commercial operations and will no longer operate future cruises,” the company said.
The cruise line thanked guests for their support, saying it was a privilege to share Alaska’s waterways and heritage with travelers from around the world.
The company generally operated from May to September, offering five- to ten-night cruises on four ships carrying between 40 and 80 passengers.
No excursions were available at the time of the announcement and the company confirmed that all guests will receive a refund on future bookings.
Jamey Cagle, co-owner of the company, told the Daily Sitka Sentinel that the decision to close was “necessary and necessary” after a review of the company’s long-term goals.
Users flocked to social media to comment on the announcement post, with many expressing sadness about the business closing.
“I’m so sorry to hear this news. We had a great trip last year and were hoping to do it again,” one user commented.
Another user expressed fond memories of working on the cruise ship, and some even expressed disappointment that they would never be able to experience an Alaska Dream Cruise.
Despite the closure, the brand will not disappear completely.

Parent company Allen Marine Tours will continue day tours and marine services throughout Alaska, meaning the beloved cruise line’s legacy remains firmly in the region.
“We’re really proud to be Native and Native-owned here in Sitka,” Allen Marine spokesman Zak Kirkpatrick told KTOO.
“This has translated into world-class cruises, national awards and global recognition – something we are incredibly proud of.”
