Albanese to include YouTube in social media ban; UK reveals path to Palestinian recognition

Communication Minister Anika Wells says platforms should provide an alternative to providing personal identity to confirm a person’s age.

“These platforms know with deadly accuracy, who we are, what we are, and when we do it, and know that you have a Facebook account since 2009, so they know that you are over 16 years old,” he says.

“There are many ways to do this, and we look forward to taking the last one in the age assurance research from the Security Commission.”

Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Tiktok, X and now Youtube will be caught by a social media ban on children under the age of 16, which will start on December 10th.
