Aldi issues urgent ‘do not eat’ warning as it recalls chocolate treat with deadly health risk

Aldi has issued an urgent ‘do not eat’ warning as it recalls a popular chocolate snack amid fears of a serious ‘health risk’.

The discount supermarket’s Dairyfine Crispy Choc Ums have been removed from shelves because they may contain peanuts.

Customers were asked to return their packages to the nearest Aldi store in exchange for a refund.

The health warning relates to the 121g pack size along with the best before date and covers England, Scotland and Wales.

A Food Standards Agency (FSA) spokesperson said: ‘Aldi is recalling Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s as a precautionary measure because the product may contain peanuts.

‘This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone allergic to peanuts.

‘Aldi is recalling the product from customers and has contacted relevant allergy support organizations who will be informing their members of the recall.

‘The company also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.

‘These notices explain to customers why the product has been recalled and tell them what to do if they purchase the product.’
