Civil Aviation Minister Samir Kumar Sinha said the government is actively working to address passengers’ concerns following the disruption caused by the recent IndiGo operational crisis and 100 per cent refunds for PNR cancellations have apparently been completed.
Samir Kumar Sinha, who visited the Delhi airport on Monday to observe the baggage operation, said in an interview with ANI that 90 per cent of the luggage has arrived and airlines are sending the luggage to the relevant addresses. “This is the big concern of the passengers. I came here to see the baggage operation. We have just seen that 90 percent of the baggage has arrived. Airlines are sending the baggage to the addresses of the relevant passengers. I feel that in the next 24 hours, the baggage will reach the address given by the passenger,” he said.
“This was a big concern and we actually took due notice and placed an order and also coordinated with IndiGo and I think the full 100% refund has already been completed,” he added. Sinha said IndiGo operated more than 1,800 flights today, which is almost normal, and other airlines are also flying at full capacity.
“Things are almost back to normal. Airlines are performing. In fact, operations have been very smooth. IndiGo operated more than 1,800 flights today, which is almost normal. All other airlines like Akasa, Air India Express, Air India, Spicejet flew at full capacity. So, from what I saw today, things are returning to normal,” Sinha said.
“We coordinated at various levels; there were many meetings with IndiGo’s top management and also coordinated with airports, airport directors, both PPP and AAI airports. I think everything is almost normal now,” he added.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu told the Rajya Sabha earlier in the day that the problems faced by IndiGo airlines passengers are not linked to the Aircraft Maintenance and Planning System (AMSS) but to the airline’s internal crew roster and operational planning.
