Rats Bite Infants, Chew Mothers’ Nails at Warangal’s CKM Hospital

A distressing video posted on social media showing rats roaming freely in an incubator where vulnerable babies are being treated has gone viral.

Mothers and caregivers are now forced to keep watch over newborn babies for fear that mice might attack them. Previously, many incidents have been reported of mice biting, injuring babies and even chewing the nails of new mothers. Despite these alarming cases, hospital staff were widely criticized for their negligence in dealing with the pest problem.

The widespread presence of mice created a terrible environment for patients. New mothers, pregnant women and their families are increasingly afraid of going to the hospital. The latest video was reportedly shot by the father of a newborn baby being treated at the hatchery and filmed the rodents to highlight the danger.

Poor sanitation management appears to be the root cause of the infestation. Locals pointed out that although billions of rupees were allocated for hospital cleaning, the funds were not used effectively but were wasted, leading to further deterioration of the situation.
