All 16 CPI(M) workers in New Mahe double murder case acquitted

On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the Talassery Additional Sessions Court in Kerala acquitted 16 Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Workers accused in the new Mahe double murder case related to the killing of RSS activists Vijith (28) and Shinoj (30) in Pallur.

Two of the defendants died during the trial, and the remaining 14 were found not guilty because they could not prove the charges.

The double murder that sent shockwaves across Kerala took place on May 28, 2010. Vijith and Shinoj were attacked to death after a bomb was launched to create panic near Poosarikovil in New Mahe. The attack occurred when he returned after appearing in Mahe Court in connection with a case related to the attempted murder of a CPI (M) worker in Pallur.

Among the rescuers are NK Sunil Kumar, Alias ​​Kodi Suni, KK Muhammad Shafi, K. Shinoj, TP Chandrasekharan already serving jail time in the murder case. Besides them, T. Sujith, TK Sumesh, TP Shame, AK Shammas, Kk Abbas, Rahul, Kv Vineesh, PV Vijith, Faisal, Sarish and TP Sajeer were also acquitted in the case. Two of the accused – Mohammed Rajees and CK Rajikant – have died since the incident.

The hearing, which started on January 21, was completed on August 19. The prosecution examined 44 witnesses and produced 63 exhibits and 140 documents.

Special Public Prosecutor P. Premarajan appeared for the prosecution following a High Court Directive based on a petition filed by Vijith’s mother Rajamma. For the defense, defenders CK Sreedharan and K. Viswan emerged.
