Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has announced that a state-of-the-art ‘Cosmos Planetarium’ will be set up in Amaravati. The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is all set to sign an MoU with APCRDA for the project during the groundbreaking ceremony of several major bank headquarters scheduled for November 28, 2025.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and many senior public representatives are expected to attend the event, which is an important step in strengthening Amaravati’s education and science ecosystem. The capital, which already hosts many leading educational and healthcare institutions, is set to expand further with new institutions, the launch of Quantum Valley activities, and advances in tourism and infrastructure development projects.
Officials said that the soon-to-be-established planetarium will provide great benefits to students by providing a clear visual understanding of astronomy-related topics, including the universe, planets, stars and galaxies. Thanks to advanced 3D and dome projection technology, students will be able to explore cosmic events and develop a deeper interest in science, technology and space exploration. The initiative is expected to inspire future careers in astronomy and space sciences by nurturing curiosity and scientific temperament among young students.
