Two US soldiers and interpreter killed by Islamic State gunman in Syria, US military says

Two US soldiers and a US civilian translator were killed in an ambush by a lone gunman affiliated with the Islamic State in Syria, the US military said.
The Pentagon said that the gunman was “engaged and killed” and three other soldiers were injured in the attack.
The identities of those killed are kept for 24 hours until their relatives are notified.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said: “Let it be known that if you target Americans, you will spend the rest of your short, anxious life anywhere in the world knowing that the United States will hunt you down, find you, and brutally kill you.”
