Amazon Web Services down? DownDetector shows widespread issues across apps and websites
The outage was reported by more than 14,000 users as of 3:44 a.m. ET on Monday, according to DownDetector. The most affected areas of the service included the mobile App: 53% of users reported problems; homepage: 26% of users reported problems; shopping cart: 22% of users reported problems.
User response to Amazon web services decreased
Social media users quickly took to platforms like x and Downdetector’s comments page to report the glitch. User @20wenty_ shared a list of affected games and websites, while John R. Eakin (@JREakin) noted that the AWS status was temporarily downgraded to “Bad” before returning to its affected status. Another user, Mr. Frog (@TheMisterFrog) confirmed that the outage was indeed related to Amazon Web Services.
Another user, Chris M, confirmed the global extent of the outage and noted that “ALL sites using AWS are down” and urged users to check Twitter for live updates.
Other users shared the impact on certain services: Lidya Ramirez discovered the Canvas school app was down, Anton Kim and Samat Baltin reported issues logging into Amazon Relay and warned that package deliveries may be delayed. Questions about Amazon Flex also circulated, and Ivy asked if she was affected. Toothless Ivy summarized the outage and noted that smart home devices, books, shipping, music, and streaming (all services dependent on AWS) were likely affected.
