Amit Shah hits out at Rahul Gandhi, accuses Congress of ‘normalising infiltration’

Shah was in Assam where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of many major health infrastructure projects at the state and youth convention in Guwahati.
“Under the Congress government, around Rs 150 billion was spent annually on health. In contrast, under the BJP government, the health sector budget in Assam reached nearly Rs 9,000 billion.”

Shah, while attacking Rahul Gandhi for protests by Congress workers during the AI summit, claimed that the opposition leader was targeting the country while opposing the BJP. “Rahul Gandhi, who was protesting against Prime Minister Modi and the BJP, has now started protesting against India as well.”
Shah said, “Eating tea and pakora at the gates of Parliament, the holy temple of democracy, is a shame for India and Indian democracy. This incident involving Rahul Gandhi is highly condemnable. Rahul runs away from Parliament when asked to speak.”
Shah exuded confidence that the BJP will return to power in Assam under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma. This time, the NDA will receive the “largest mandate ever.”Also Read: Amit Shah says BJP will fight in 2027 Punjab elections to form its own government and not as a junior partner
The home minister added: “Congress has legalized, formalized and normalized infiltration, but the BJP will remove every one of them from the voter rolls. Rahul Babu can be assured that not only will their names be removed from the voter rolls, but they will also be expelled.”
He said that under Congress rule, Assam gained reputation for violence and many youths lost their lives. “The Congress leadership was more concerned with the interests of their own families than the welfare of the youth. While the Congress believes in corruption and polarization by encouraging infiltrators, the BJP focuses on development, eliminating infiltrators and protecting the interests of poor families.”
Shah said Assam’s healthcare facilities are now at par with those in leading states like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka under the BJP government.
Shah said the BJP-led government in Assam is working with a clear vision to strengthen health and medical education.
“It is very important to have full-fledged facilities for medical education so that students can treat patients not just in India but globally,” Shah said.
The union home minister added that with the expansion of hospitals and healthcare institutions in the region, patients in Assam and the Northeast will no longer need to travel far for treatment.
Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of healthcare projects worth Rs 2,092 crore in Assam, including the Rs 675-crore Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital and Saraswatidevi Shivkishan Daamani Academic Block. He also virtually inaugurated the cancer care centers at Golaghat and Tinsukia, developed under the Assam Cancer Care Foundation, a joint initiative of the Assam government and Tata Trusts, and built at a cost of Rs 135 crore each.
The union Home minister has almost laid the foundation stones of several major healthcare infrastructure projects, including three super specialty hospitals at Diphu Medical College, Jorhat Medical College and Barpeta Medical College worth Rs 814 billion, Swasthya Bhawan at Six Mile in Guwahati worth Rs 218 billion and a district health center in Abhayapuri worth Rs 115 billion.
Shah said the state’s healthcare infrastructure has not seen significant improvement during the Congress era. “I can proudly say that within a decade of our government, the BJP government has completed the process of making Assam’s health sector and health education sector self-reliant.”
