Attack on gatekeeper: Thikkodi native nabbed

Payyoli police have arrested a Thikkodi local accused of beating up a railway porter following a commotion over parking in the middle of the road near the railway line. The accused was stated to be Rajeesh.

The alleged attack took place near the railway gate in Thikkodi on December 24. A case was registered on the complaint of doorman Dhaneesh, who was injured in the incident and admitted to a government hospital in Koyilandy.

The watchman alleged that Rajeesh and his friend honked at him when he asked them to remove the motorcycle, which they stopped obstructively near the railway gate. The duo manhandled the gatekeeper from behind the backboards and also burst into his room with death threats.

Police sources said that the friend of the arrested person was also searched in the same area. They said the case was registered under Article 132 (assault or use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
