Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha on Saturday accused YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders of trying to politicize the incident of desecration of Ambedkar statue in Chittoor district.
Ms. Anitha visited Devalampeta village in Vedurukuppam mandal in Gangadhara Nellore Assembly constituency; Here, malicious people set fire to a shop on October 3 and then killed Dr. He vandalized a statue of BR Ambedkar. He decorated the rebuilt statue and reviewed the investigation into the incident.
Accompanied by Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasada Rao, MLAs Murali Mohan and Thomas and other leaders, Ms. Anitha praised the police for quickly solving the case using technology.
Speaking at the solidarity meeting, the Minister of Internal Affairs described the incident as an act of revenge for political gain. “Those who resort to exploiting the sentiments of Dalits for political gain will not be spared,” he said.
The Home Minister hit back by targeting YSRCP leader Perni Nani: “How can a person who once served as a Cabinet Minister go to a police station and threaten officers? This is akin to undermining the sanctity of law and order.”
Ms. Anitha stated that the government will take appropriate legal action regarding the incident. “There is no place for bravado and political arrogance in our government. No one who breaks the law can escape legal consequences,” said Ms. Anitha.
Reiterating that the Government was committed to preventing the production and sale of fake liquor, he said the State was targeting not only those caught red-handed but also conspirators operating behind the scenes.
He said the people should condemn YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tendency to “divide people along caste and communal lines”. “Since the YSRCP cannot digest the growing public support for the NDA government, it is following unethical means to malign it,” he said.
