Andhra Pradesh declared as ganja-free cultivation State

EAGLE president and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ake Ravi Krishna said that the Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) has completely prevented hemp cultivation in Andhra Pradesh and there is no more hemp crop left in the state.
“EAGLE along with Tribal Welfare, Agriculture, Police, Revenue and other departments have succeeded in preventing ganja cultivation in tribal settlements in AP,” the IGP said.
On Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Vijayawada, EAGLE participated in the anti-drugs and ganja rally and awareness program jointly organized by Aster Ramesh Hospitals and NTR Commissionerate Police.
Addressing the students, Mr. Ravi Krishna said that international drug traffickers are targeting youth and students in India and dropping drug stocks in Kashmir, Punjab and other states through drones. “If you are a patriot and living in India, do not fall into the trap of drugs and save the country from enemies,” the EAGLE president said.
Participating in the rally was Aster Ramesh Hospitals general manager Dr. Pothineni Ramesh Babu said many drug addicts suffer from psychiatric and other chronic health disorders.
“The management of Aster Ramesh Hospitals is providing counseling to drug-addicted patients and preventing the menace,” hospital chairman MS Rammohan Rao said.
NTR Commissioner of Police SV Rajashekar Babu said that 22 of the 96 ganja addicts sent to prisons under the Prevention of Illegal Traffic in Narcotics, Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act, 1988 in AP were from NTR Commissionerate.
Students from various educational institutions, Aster Ramesh Hospitals general manager Jyesta Rajashekar, Dr. Sudershan, Dr. Subba Reddy, Deputy Commissioner SK Shareen Begum and other officers attended.
