Andrea James to take over from Rachael Maza as artistic director and co-CEO
During his career, he asked what it means personally, James’s answer is simple: everything.
Nasıl How did you count how we started with Rachael yesterday with Rachael yesterday, how you could count the number of playwrights and the number of Aboriginal directors – and now there is a wave of young artists, as well as the settled artists who do a really great job. ”He says.

Pointing out the work of Maza, General Manager and common CEO Ping Flynn and the wider community, James adds, “This is a fantastic company, and this is a real blessing because it does not always happen,” he adds. “Many hands touched this company and brought it to the existence. And we will always honor and respect and thank people who really hard gardens.”
In addition to giving priority to the creation of a private space, James wants to build on the current powerful foundation by searching for more stories and facilitating more scale work. But the first action plan will be to listen to the people around him. “I will really take a deep listening and speech round, and I will interact with our elderly people N’arweet Dr Carolyn Briggs and uncle Larry Walsh.”
The role of art is deeper than distraction. “When we can meet as people – and the theater is a great way for this – it brings us together as Black people in our safe area,” James reflects. “And then to invite people to come to sit with us and listen to our stories and celebrate and tell the truth, it’s really important, I think more than ever.

“We are only one of the first nation theater companies in Australia, and I think it should be much more – I think it should be much more – I actually want more competition,” he adds.
“I think we can sit with young people, especially young and white men who seem to take this way of division and hate with great pleasure, if we can sit with people and interact with our stories and experiences as a human, I hope we can make it a better world.”
