Flood alerts issued as parts of UK brace for heavy rain after Met Office weather warnings

Heavy rain is expected in parts of England over the next two days, with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning alongside several flood warnings.
Following the recent wet weather, a weather warning has been issued from noon on Tuesday until 8am on Wednesday, with rain expected to become more permanent and widespread once again.
The areas covered by the warning are Wales and parts of south-west England, including Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire, Plymouth and Torbay.
The government has issued 11 flood warnings for areas including Brampton, Keswick, Carlisle, Warwick Holmes; This means floods are expected. There are also 33 flood warnings in place, meaning flooding is possible. You can find more information at: GOV.UK website.
A Met Office spokesman said: “The breezy but mild weather continues this week, with some heavy rain developing. “The rain is expected to become heavier on Tuesday afternoon and yellow warnings will remain in place for parts of the South West and South Wales until Wednesday morning, where 20 to 40mm of rain is widely expected.
“Some open south-facing hills of the Brecon Beacons and Dartmoor could see more than 50mm, with stronger winds expected on the open coast. Wednesday looks set to bring a more stable picture with autumnal showers and mild temperatures.”
The Met Office said motorists can expect longer journey times due to puddles and flooding on roads, and public transport such as buses and train services are likely to be affected.
People are advised to check road conditions or bus and train schedules when driving to avoid delays. They are also advised to make changes to their travel plans if necessary.
The forecaster added that those living in the area covered by the weather warning should check whether they are at risk of flooding and prepare a plan and emergency kit accordingly.
People are asked to keep flashlights, batteries, mobile phone power bank and other essential items with them in case of power outage.
